Sol Azteca – Morrisville

He Said - If there is one thing the Triangle has no shortage of, it’s Mexican restaurants, which makes it hard to stand out.  However, Sol Azteca does just that.  From the moment the chips and salsa land on your table, you know you’re in for something memorable.  The salsa has a great taste with a subtle kick that will keep drawing you back.  If you can bring yourself to stray away from the combo menu, you will find the Platillos Mexicanos.  A little more authentic than the standard NC Mexican.  I ordered the Tacos De Carnitas.  3 soft corn tortillas stuffed with slow cooked pork with a side of rice and beans.  Unlike what you get with a “normal” taco, these are just meat and tortillas with condiments on the side…lime, a cilantro and onion mix, and a bitter hot sauce.  Alone the sauce is an acquired taste, but when it all comes together it is outstanding.  I have had a lot of meals at various Mexican restaurants in the area, and Sol Azteca always comes out on top.
